Eligibility
  • Project participants can be by individual or group.
  • There is no maximum number of group members. However, the registration package will include at most 5 copies of the registration certificate.
  • Additional certificates can be purchased for MYR 10.
  • All projects must be an original work of the person / group.
  • Individual or group participants may submit more than one entry. Each entry will need to be paid an individual project registration.
  • Registration must be accompanied with payment for confirmation.

Submission Requirements
Each team will need to submit:
  1. Project abstract. (Submission through VEXS platform)
  2. Video presentation of their project. (link)
  3. Project poster. (link)
Participants may also submit any extra documents for additional information or acknowledgmentof the project. Example of evidence/documents – patent, publication, previous awards, etc.

  • Team leader may register the project and additional team members
  • Please provide one corresponding address for delivery of medals and certificates.
  • Abstract needs to be included during registration.
  • Payment needs to be made upon registering for project and ideation competition entrant.
  • Project registration deadline is on the 15th of November 2021.
  • Submission of exhibition material (poster and video) to be uploaded on the registration platform by 15th of November 2021.

ABSTRACT GUIDELINE

  • The acceptable word range for the abstract is 200 – 300 words.
  • Please download the abstract template and follow the format carefully. If the abstract template is not followed as is, you will be asked for revisions.
  • Your submission should be in English.
  • We encourage you to send an informative abstract (complete abstract) which is a summary of a paper’s substance including its background, purpose, problem statement, objective, novelty, and benefit to society.
  • Abstract must be submitted online through our registration platform during registration of the project.
  • Please send in a brief biography together with the Abstract.


POSTER GUIDELINE

Typically, a poster should contain: a title section, short introduction, aims and objectives, problem statement, product design / idea, novelty, market value, benefit to society, other relevant information.
  • The poster should have the aspect ratio of 3:4 (eg 18cm x 24cm).
  • Text is clear and to the point.
  • Use of bullets, numbering, and headlines to make it easy to read.
  • Effective use of graphics, color, and font.
  • Consistent and clean layout.
  • Includes acknowledgements, your name, and affiliation.
  • Poster should be in png or jpg format.
  • Please use the following naming convention: PID.png, PID.jpg, where PID is your Paper ID, or the code that was entered in front of your paper title in the program and PID is your Paper ID.

VIDEO GUIDELINE

Audio/Video File requirements:
  • All files must be in MP4 Format.
  • A bit rate of 1mbps or less: To check the bit rate, right click on the file name, click on properties, go to the details tab, and look for total bitrate. (*Note: The platform will accept videos with a higher bit rate, but some quality may be lost during the upload process).
  • Resolution = 720p HD only.
  • The maximum allowed video/file size is 500MB.
  • Please use the following naming convention: PID.pptx, PID.pdf, PID.mp4, where PID is your Paper ID, or the code that was entered in front of your paper title in the program and PID is your Paper ID.
Presentation requirements
  • Please display your project title, your team member’s names, and affiliation at the start of the video.
  • Presentation must be in English except for Junior Category where either English or Bahasa Melayu can be used.
  • Your presentation should be between 5-10 minutes.
Compulsory Content
Your video presentation needs to include these items:
  1. Introduction
  2. Problem Statement
  3. Objective
  4. Innovation ideas/Product
  5. Novelty of idea/product
  6. Benefit to society
  7. Commercial value
(You may include other relevant and necessary content) Uploading Your Presentation to the Virtual Event Platform:
After you have prepared your MP4 video file, instructions on where to upload your presentation will be provided to you as we get closer to the conference start date.
Please submit the exhibition materials (poster, video) by 15th of November 2021.
A Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal will be awarded to projects based on the achievements within their categories.
The winning project will receive a medal and a certificate of award.
In each category, an overall outstanding project will be awarded the special Diamond Award.
The winners will receive additional Diamond Award certificate, a trophy, and hamper.

Judging Criteria :
  • Problem that this innovation is addressing is valid and of importance.
  • Novelty and originality of the invention or innovation in providing a solution to the problem.
  • Scientific value of the idea and concept.
  • Innovative product idea significance and benefit to the society/users.
  • Potential commercialization and marketable value.
  • Others: publication, recognition, award, intellectual property.
